Crohn’s disease is typically treated with anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Corticosteroids, Naltrexone, Humira, Cimzia, etc. These drugs may improve Crohn’s and some may induce remission, but they will not cure Crohn’s and some have significant side-effects. The drugs simply suppress the symptoms.
Pharmaceutical companies clearly have the knowledge, expertise and resources to pursue a cure for Crohn’s, but no cure has surfaced yet and probably won’t. Putting conspiracy theories aside, I seriously doubt many pharmaceutical companies are interested developing a cure for Crohn’s, because it does not make business sense! Big Pharma probably make over $1 billion every year from treating Crohn’s with anti-inflammatory drugs. If they developed a cure, how much would they make every year? Perhaps millions instead of a billion-plus? And probably much less in the long-term. It may be hard to believe but it simply does not make financial sense for the pharmaceutical companies to cure Crohn’s. Big companies are often driven by their stock holders, and stock holders usually invest primarily for one reason – to make money!
If we want to cure Crohn’s we need to know the underlying cause. Otherwise, how can we cure a disease without knowing its cause? In this post I discuss two studies that would radically change the way Crohn’s is treated. Once the results of those two studies are published it will be a ‘game changer’! No longer will Crohn’s be thought of as an incurable autoimmune disease, instead it will be labelled as an infectious disease that’s curable with antibiotics and diet.
Interestingly, what percentage of Crohn’s cases is potentially caused by MAP? Is it about 80%, 90%, 95% or 100%? The answer is we don’t know, although MAP is the accepted cause of Johne’s which is very similar to Crohn’s. The technology and processes used to detect MAP in Crohn’s sufferers is not perfect, and, additionally, we only need relatively low numbers of MAP in the gut to cause disease, which potentially makes it more difficult to detect! But, if we pursue MAP as the cause of Crohn’s and find cases that cannot be cured via effective antibiotics, then we can consider other causes; surely that’s the way forward?
After researching Crohn’s for years, I created a website in 2005 called paratubeculsosis.net, where I shared my research. Through that website, I was in contact with many Crohn’s sufferers that believed MAP was the cause of Crohn’s too. After several years, I shared with them a simple protocol for inducing remission in Crohn’s as quickly as possible (based on all my research). The protocol was this:
1. Use TNF-reducing supplements/drugs to reduce TNF levels in the gut so wound-healing can begin;
2. Remove all sugars/starches (or as much as possible) from the diet to prevent MAP causing further inflammation and attracting macrophages to replicate inside;
3. Kill MAP via effective antibiotics/natural antibiotics.
The feedback I got was fantastic! It took time and effort to follow this protocol but it worked!
There are many studies and a huge amount of anecdotal evidence to support the individual parts of this protocol, but no one has ever combined all three parts except those I shared it with! I believe this protocol represents the most effective way to treat Crohn’s, induce remission as quickly as possible and even potentially cure it!
